I Made an AI Wallpaper Pack in an Afternoon. It’s Made Over $40,000.
Everyone kept telling me the same thing.
No one is going to pay for AI generated stuff. It’s slop. It has no value. Nobody wants it.
I kept hearing this over and over. And honestly, for a while, I almost believed it.
But then I made a wallpaper pack in a single afternoon. Almost didn’t put it up for sale. And it’s now made over $40,000.
The Product
It’s called the Acrylic Paint Wallpaper Pack. It’s on my store, PlatSupply.

17 desktop wallpapers. 15 mobile wallpapers. That’s it. A zip file.
What I loved about the acrylic paint style specifically is the texture. The thickness. The way the colour layers. The shadows. It looks rich. It looks real. And it’s entirely AI generated.

Where the Idea Came From
I saw something. A poster or a print, I can’t fully remember. It had this acrylic paint aesthetic. And I thought: that would make an incredible wallpaper pack.
The problem was I couldn’t make it myself. I don’t have the space or skill for actual acrylic painting. And hiring someone to produce something like this would have cost thousands. Probably tens of thousands.
AI made it possible.
How I Actually Made It
I used Midjourney. You don’t have to. There are plenty of other tools out there now. Even ChatGPT can produce great images with Image 2.0.
Midjourney plans run from around $10/month for basic up to $120/month for the mega plan. Worth mentioning because anyone buying the wallpaper pack is actually getting a better deal than subscribing themselves. They’d spend more on the subscription than the pack costs.
The process was simple. I went to the Midjourney explore page to see what other people had made. Got a sense of what was possible. Then I started prompting.
I didn’t use any fancy prompt. No image references. I just described what I was looking for and kept refining it. A lot of people overthink prompting. The real thing is just experimentation. Add words. Be more specific. See what comes back.
I have a design background and a strong sense of aesthetic. That definitely helped. I knew what looked good. And more importantly, I knew what would look good to other people. Not just to me.
That distinction matters. I’ve made other packs I personally loved that didn’t sell well. Because my taste and the market’s taste aren’t always the same thing.
How I Sold It
I put it on my Shopify store with proper product photography. Not just the wallpapers themselves. Actual lifestyle shots. Me using them on my phone, on my desktop, on my iPad, in my full setup.

This matters a lot. When someone sees a wallpaper in an actual setup, they can imagine it in their own. It’s the same reason you want to see clothes on a person, not just on a hanger.
The product page is clean. The thumbnails show the quality. The lifestyle shots do the selling.
The Numbers
2,200 packs sold on Shopify. Another few hundred on Gumroad.
Over $40,000 in total. From a product that took me an afternoon to make.
The profit margin on this is basically 99%. My only real costs are my Shopify plan, the card processing fees, and my Midjourney subscription. That’s it. No staff. No manufacturing. No inventory. I built this entirely on my own.
Anyone Can Do This. But Not Everyone Will.
The people in the comments saying “who is buying wallpapers?”. They’re not wrong to be sceptical. I think the same thing when I put products up. Every time.
But here’s what I’ve learned.
If you make something that people actually want, something that saves them time, effort, or money, they will pay for it. The how matters less than the what.
A lot of the people who bought this pack had no idea who I was. They found it through an Instagram post or a YouTube video. They just liked the product. That’s it.
Could you do something like this? Honestly, yes. But most people won’t. They’ve already decided AI generated products have no value. Or they have the tools and still don’t make the thing.
Here’s the basic framework:
- Pick an aesthetic or style with real demand
- Generate a lot. Experiment, try things, find your taste
- Package it well and show it in use
- Get it in front of people
That’s it. No secret formula.
The tools are there. The demand is there. The only thing left is actually doing it.
